When We Are Closed

The surgery is closed between the hours of 18:30 and 08:00 Monday to Friday and throughout the day on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.

If you require urgent medical assistance that cannot wait until the surgery re-opens, please call 1-1-1.

Calls to the NHS 111 service are free from both landlines and mobiles.

Call 999 - it is an an emergency, for any of these:

signs of a heart attack - chest pain, pressure, heaviness, tightness or squeezing across the chest

signs of a stroke - face dropping on one side, cannot hold both arms up, difficulty speaking

sudden confusion (delirium) – unsure of own name or age, slurred speech or not making sense

suicide attempt - by taking something or self-harming

severe difficulty breathing - not being able to get words out, breathing very fast, choking or gasping

heavy bleeding - spraying, pouring or enough to make a puddle

severe injuries - after a serious accident

seizure (fit) - shaking or jerking because of a fit, or unconscious (can't be woken up)

sudden, rapid swelling - of the lips, mouth, throat or tongue

labour or childbirth - water breaking, frequent intense cramps (contractions), baby coming, or just born

signs of a severe infection (sepsis) - blue, grey, pale or blotchy skin, lips, tongue, palms of soles; a rash that does not fade when you roll a glass over it or high temperature with a stiff neck / bothered by light.

Reception Opening Times

For patients needing to speak with a receptionist or to collect forms, sample pots, etc.

OR

New patients attending the practice to register, the reception desk is open every day

Monday to Friday

between 10.30 and 12.30 in the morning

and 3.00 and 5.00 in the afternoon.

 

Mandatory Training 

Please note:  To enable the surgery team to undertake all the necessary mandatory training that is required by both the clinical and admin staff, the surgery closes on 10 afternoons over the year.

During these times an enhanced 111 service is available to patients should they need medical attention before the surgery re-opens the following day.

111 online is a fast and convenient alternative to the 111 phone service and provides an option for people who want to access 111 digitally. 

Your needs will be assessed and you will be given advice about whether you need:

  • Treat yourself at home
  • Go to a Primary Care Centre

If you need face to face medical attention you may be asked to attend a Primary Care Centre.

Bank Holidays

The surgery does not open on Bank Holidays. 

Pharmacies across the area offer a limited service, opening for reduced hours each day over bank holiday weekends, Easter and Christmas / New Year.

We shall display the details of pharmacies providing services over bank holidays below.

When we are closed, please dial 111 if you require urgent medical assistance and advice.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
